Abstract:
Last updated Nov 14th 2011
The pilot experiment is a tree seedling biodiversity experiment for analyzing the biodiversity–ecosystem functioning relationships with young trees. It is also providing an option for successive destructive harvests. Each plot (1x1m) contains 16 individual trees, except the plots for analyzing the influence of individuals density that, taken out of one of the four species pools. Each plot treatment is replicated in a random plot pattern in each of the four main blocks. Additionally there were arranged four blocks for investigating low, medium and high genetic diversity treatments. This file represents an exact description not only of the plots location in x- and y-direction within the blocks but also of the plots treatment done by each involved subproject.
Design:
Each of 333 plot per main block can be exactly identified by its block number in combination with its treatment code, e.g. plot 1_A1 belongs to main block 1 and represents plot treatment "A" (closed canopy) applied to an 1-species plot.
Spatial extent:
Study plots are near the Experimental sites in Xingangshan in the valley bottom, planted on arable fields. There are 4 main blocks, within the different plot treatments are randomly allocated. Within each plots, there are 16 individual trees. Plots differ in their diversity.
