Abstract:
Tree xylem traits describing growth rings, wood porosity, wood vessels, perforation plates, vessel ray pitting, helical thickenings, deposits in vessels, vesselles, ground tissue fibre, fibre bands, wood parenchym, wood cells, wood crystals -- xylem traits measured on branch samples with the help of a microscope (2.5, 5, 10, 20, 40 and 100 times, trait-specific magnified) according to the 1/0 matrix of the IAWA (International Association of Wood Anatomists) list of microscopic features; additionally determined: number of pith rays per mm, length of vascular segments and tangential diameter of the vessels; all samples collected in the 27 CSPs in the Gutianshan Nature Reserve from july to october 2008;
