Dr.Forest_T2.1
Name:
Dr.Forest_Task 2-1 Microclimate
Description:
We will analyse temporal microclimatic stability by assessing the thermal buffer capacity (increase in surface temperature after one hour of insolation) from two subsequent thermal drone-borne images taken in the heat-up phase of a cloud-free summer day. In the Exploratories we will complete these data with surface temperature stability from a long time series of the Landsat thermal channels. In addition, apparent temperature will be assessed from air temperature, wind speed and air humidity loggers installed in a subset of plots. We invite people from different social-demographic backgrounds to perform a random walk between a series of forest plots with different tree diversity and composition, once on a hot sunny and once on a cold windy day, and to score the weather buffering capacity of each. Measured and perceived microclimates will be compared.

DrForest_T2.1a Forest Microclimate Complete

Abstract:
This data belongs to Dr. Forest's task T2.1a on objective thermal comfort. It includes microclimatic measures of eight sites (Bialowieza, BIOTREE, FORBIO Hechtel-Eksel + Gedinne + Zedelgem, Hainich, ORPHEE and TREEWEB) during the period between Au...

Task_2.1 Sampling Protocol

Abstract:
This is the final version of the microclimate protocol. The main goal is to quantify microclimate variables relevant to human thermal comfort. This implies measuring four crucial variables for human thermal comfort: air temperature, mean radiant t...
