Abstract:
The raw data for cover of understorey, shrubs at 3 subplots on every 1- and 3- tree species plots.
Design:
The plot is divided into nine 10 x 10 m quadrants for each of the plots. In the centre of the quadrant (north-east (a) and south-west (c) a subplot of 5 m x 5 m was set. The central subplot (b) was located at the northern edge of the central quadrant (for detailed design see Ampoorted et a. 2016, Perspectives in Plant Ecology, Evolution and Systematics). At each subplot we recorded all vascular plants in the canopy, shrub layer, and understorey vascular plant. The coverage estimation for each layer and for each species in the layer was done using the Londo scale. The same survey (vascular plant species list and cover estimation) was carried at the entire 30 x 30 m plots (see file "Cover of understorey vegetation in entire plots 2021 Hainich").
