Abstract:
LAI (leaf area index) was measured using Licor LAI 2000. Measurements were taken at 1m height (above understory vegetation). In each plot we measure at 9 points on a 3 x 3 regular grid within the "unmanaged" subplots. We used a viewcap above the lens with an opening of 90°, so that we could "block out" plot edges at the corners of the subplots. The exact sampling scheme is show in the figure attached to this dataset. Each of the 9 within plot measurements were started and ended with an open field measurement (ABBBBBBBBBA), using the same viewcap.
