Abstract:
LAI from different Dr.Forest VIPs was measured directly using circular planting pots in the plots (30-95 cm in diameter). The pots were directly fixed to the ground. Three pots were placed in monocultures and five pots in polycultures. Litter was collected every 2 to 4 weeks and gathered in a drying chamber at 38°C. The the leaf litter was sorted by species and plot, dried for 48h at 80°C and the weighed. The dryweight was multiplied with the species corresponding SLA (specific leaf area) to DWT (dry weight) ratio and then converted to the LAI in m² leaf area per m² stand area.
Design:
Sampling occured along a 1, 2, 3 and 4 tree species gradient. Samplingpots were randomly distributed in the center of the plots
