Abstract:
The raw data concerns the cover of understorey, shrubs, and trees both of the 3 subplots (5mx5m) in every 1- and 3- tree species plots in Kaltenborn.
Design:
Every plot is divided into three parts - unmanaged, managed, and with added species. Each of these parts is divided into 30 quadrants (5 in a row), one tree species in each. All the surveys were done in the unmanaged part of each of the 1- and 3-tree species plots. In each of these plots, we marked three subplots of 6mx6m. In monocultures, subplots were located randomly but not less than 3m from the edge of the plot. In 3-species mixtures, the middle of the subplots were located at the junction of quadrants of 3 species ((plot 4, 5, 9: 1st subplot: junction of 6th, 7th, 11th, 12th quadrants; 2nd subplot: junction of 8, 9, 13, 14; 3rd subplot 18, 19, 23, 24); (plot 15: 1st subplot: junction of 8,9,13,14; 2nd subplot: junction of 17,18, 22, 23; 3rd subplot: junction of 19, 20, 24, 25)). In every subplot, we identified and estimated vascular plant species. The estimation was carried using the Londo scale.
