Abstract:
During the New Integrated Litter Experiment (NILEx) we used a rainfall simulator to measure the sensitivity of soil to erosion under constant conditions. This simulator was developed in Tübingen in 2011 and comes with a lightweight tent and an adjustable tripod to ensure usage in steep and difficult terrain. Rainfall intensity can be set up to 100 mm/h by using a Lechler 460.788.30 nozzle at 0.15 bar and a dropfall height of 3.5 m. The simulator is calibrated before every use with the help of a Thies laser distrometer. Attached you find some illustrating pictures of the device.
